Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, attended the closing ceremony of the “Gadeha Junior” training camp, which was held at Exhibition World Bahrain, in the presence of Colonel His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guard’s Special Operations and a number of distinguished guests and invitees. On the occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that the “Gadeha Junior” camp is a national project aimed at investing in the country’s youth, developing their character, honing their skills and preparing them to be better equipped to shoulder responsibility and face challenges. His Highness noted that investing in and empowering young people will remain a top priority, as they are a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s progress and future. His Highness added: “We take pride in what the participants achieved during the camp, and in the dedication, commitment and high spirits they demonstrated, which reflect the authentic values that characterise Bahraini youth. Through this project, we wanted military life – with its discipline, commitment and sense of responsibility – to serve as a means of shaping the participants’ character and instilling in them the values of leadership, teamwork and self-confidence.” His Highness also noted: “The outstanding examples we see today confirm that investing in the younger generation is a genuine investment in Bahrain’s future. We look forward to the participants carrying what they have learnt at the camp into their daily lives, serving as role models in their schools and communities, and always placing service to the country and its advancement at the forefront of their goals.” His Highness praised the efforts made in organising the camp, commending the role of the organisers, trainers and supervisors, as well as the sponsors and supporters who contributed to the project’s success and the achievement of its objectives. The ceremony began with the Royal Anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. Ahmed Al Shaikh, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Director of the Media Office of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, then delivered a speech on the occasion. Afterwards, a special film was screened offering a behind-the-scenes look at the camp, showcasing aspects of the participants’ journey, as well as the training, experiences and situations they encountered, which developed their capabilities and strengthened their team spirit and discipline. The ceremony also featured an interactive military display. Sponsors were also honoured during the ceremony, in recognition of their support and contribution to the success of the ‘Gadeha Junior’ camp. These were: the strategic partners – the General Sports Authority, and the Bahrain Olympic Committee. The winners of the Gadeha Cup for Excellence were also honoured, namely the following four participants: in the junior girls’ category, Aline Qamar Salim; in the junior boys’ category, Khalifa Ibrahim Al Ghadeer; in the senior women’s category, Fawzia Abdullah Al Amiri; and in the senior men’s category, Ammar Yasser Mirza. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, affirmed that charitable work is an authentic and deeply-rooted value in the Bahraini society, reflecting the generosity, selflessness and solidarity of the people of Bahrain, and the noble values they inherited, which made doing good deeds an integral part of the society’s culture. On the International Charity Day observed annually on 5 September, His Highness said that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s distinguished standing in charitable work is the result of the royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, and the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in consolidating the values of generosity and solidarity, and strengthening the role of charitable work in serving society. His Highness added that the Kingdom of Bahrain has a long history of charitable work, which has been shaped by its institutions and citizens and passed down from generation to generation, until it became a well-established approach and one of the values that characterise the Bahraini society. His Highness noted that the Royal Humanitarian Foundation serves as a model for institutional charitable work in the Kingdom, through efforts spanning 25 years, during which a variety of initiatives have been launched to promote community service. His Highness noted that the International Day of Charity is an occasion that highlights the importance of promoting a culture of giving and encouraging initiatives that foster community participation, emphasising that charity is not linked to the scale of one’s contribution, but rather to the sincerity and continuity of the initiative, and the positive impact it has on the lives of others and on society. His Highness highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of giving in younger generations and encouraging them to serve their communities, which ensures kindness and solidarity are upheld, and makes charitable work a social value that is present at all stages of life. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, affirmed that World Humanitarian Day is a global and national occasion to renew the commitment to noble humanitarian values, and to promote a culture of giving and mutual support as a shared social responsibility, which builds communities and supports their stability, whilst reinforcing the values of solidarity and compassion amongst peoples. On World Humanitarian Day observed on 19 August, His Highness explained that this year coincides with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation’s celebration of 25 years of humanitarian work under the slogan ‘A Humanitarian Legacy’, noting that these efforts are an extension of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, and His Majesty’s firm belief that human beings are the centre and ultimate goal of development. His Highness also highlighted the support and follow up the Foundation receives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which strengthened the Foundation’s standing and increased its humanitarian impact within the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad. His Highness added that, over the course of a quarter of a century, the Foundation has established a comprehensive humanitarian model that combines care, empowerment and humanitarian response, alongside the implementation of relief and development initiatives and projects outside the Kingdom, which reflects Bahrain’s humanitarian mission and its core values of extending a helping hand to those in need. His Highness emphasised that a humanitarian legacy is not measured solely by achievements, but by the values and behaviours that take root in society. His Highness noted that the sustainability of humanitarian work is a shared responsibility that begins with the individual, and that every initiative a person undertakes, every effort they make, and every moment they devote to serving others, has the potential to make an impact that extends to the lives of individuals and communities. Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, visited the ‘Gadeha Junior’ training camp for young people held at Exhibition World Bahrain, where His Highness observed the training programmes and field exercises offered by the camp. His Highness toured a number of the camp’s training grounds and observed some of the challenges faced by the young participants, noting the physical effort, concentration, quick reflexes and decision-making skills required. His Highness affirmed that “Gadeha Junior” provides a practical experience that gives young people the space to discover their abilities and test their potential through various situations and challenges. His Highness noted that character building begins by giving young people the confidence and opportunity to experiment, face challenges and learn. His Highness explained that one of the camp’s objectives is for children to learn from a young age that challenges are not to be feared but to be faced, and that self-confidence is built through trying, experimenting and overcoming difficulties. His Highness emphasised that “Gadeha Junior” is not about seeing who finishes first, but rather aims for every participant to discover potential within themselves, and to realise that stumbling in one attempt is not the end of the road, but rather a motivation to return stronger. This came during a visit by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the 15th edition of Youth City 2030, organised in collaboration with the Labour Fund "Tamkeen" and the Summer Sports City, in the presence of a number of officials. His Highness praised the progress made by the 15th edition of Youth City 2030 in attracting young people and engaging them in a comprehensive experience that combines learning, application and practice, noting the city’s high-quality programmes and initiatives across various fields. His Highness praised the diversity of partnerships that helped enrich the City’s experience and training content, emphasising that the integration of programmes, expertise and national and international partnerships had a positive impact on the City’s outcomes and its influence on young people. His Highness commended the specialised sporting programmes and activities offered by the Summer Sports City, which combine training, practice, competition, and the discovery and development of talent, and providing a stimulating environment to develop the youth's physical and technical abilities. During the visit, His Highness was briefed on the city’s centres and pathways in leadership and entrepreneurship, media and entertainment, arts and culture, science and technology, and sport, as well as the training opportunities they offer that combine knowledge with practical application, alongside helping young people develop their skills. His Highness also toured the Summer Sports City, one of the specialised centres hosted by Youth City 2030, and was briefed on the integrated system of sports programmes and activities it offers. During the tour, His Highness received a commemorative gift from Bahrain Islamic Bank in recognition of his support for the second edition of the ‘We Write in Arabic’ initiative, and to mark the launch of the initiative’s third edition. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, chaired the Council's meeting for the year 2026, in the presence of the council's members. The meeting reviewed a number of strategic initiatives and projects on the agenda and adopted a number of recommendations and decisions aimed at continuing to develop the youth and sports sector, improving quality of life, and enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s standing in the fields of youth empowerment and sport. His Highness opened the meeting by congratulating Bahraini youth on International Youth Day, affirming that this occasion is a source of pride in the outstanding achievements of Bahraini youth across various fields, thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Highness affirmed that the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports continues to work in accordance with a national vision centred on investing in people, promoting initiatives based on scientific studies and indicators, and developing programmes that meet the aspirations of Bahraini youth, in line with the royal vision achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. His Highness stressed the importance of coordination among various government bodies to achieve the best results and maximise the social impact of national initiatives. The Council was briefed on the initiative to issue a special visa for professional athletes, which aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework governing the entry and residence of professional athletes and their family members, which will contribute to developing the professional sports system, safeguard athletes’ rights, streamline administrative procedures, support national clubs and enhance the competitiveness of the sports sector in the Kingdom. The Council directed to finalise the necessary procedures to approve the initiative, and tasked the General Sports Authority with coordinating with the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities in this regard, to ensure the provision of an advanced regulatory environment that supports the development of professional sport. The Council also reviewed the initiative to promote health and quality of life through calorie awareness, emphasising the importance of continuing to implement national programmes that raise health awareness, establish a culture of healthy eating, and encourage the community to adopt healthy lifestyles, to positively impact quality of life and support national efforts aimed at promoting public health and prevention. In this context, the Council directed the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, to take the necessary measures to examine the implementation of a system for disclosing the calories of food served in restaurants, and to develop an appropriate monitoring system and enforcement mechanisms, supported by the necessary legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance and promote public health. The Council also discussed legislative amendments aimed at enhancing opportunities for young people in the labour market, in accordance with the directives of HH the Chairman of the Council, on finding the best ways to equip young people with the skills and experience necessary to enter the labour market, and to expand the career opportunities available to them. In this context, the Minister of Labour outlined a number of proposals aimed at developing the labour market system, enhancing its resilience, extending the scope of social security protection, and improving mechanisms for accessing unemployment benefits, which supports the stability of workers and jobseekers. The Council emphasised the importance of continuing to develop relevant legislation to keep pace with changes in the labour market, train young people and equip them with practical experience, and enhance their opportunities for participation and sustainable presence in the labour market. As part of the Council’s focus on youth empowerment, it reviewed the fifteenth edition of ‘Youth City 2030’, which presents a renewed vision centred on the skills of the future, innovation, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and national identity, helping prepare young people for the demands of the future and providing an integrated environment that fosters creativity, excellence and creating opportunities. The Council emphasised the importance of continuing to develop the City and maximising its national impact, which reinforces its status as one of the prominent national initiatives in youth empowerment and capacity building. At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness directed to monitor the implementation of the Council’s decisions and recommendations, and their impact assessed periodically to ensure the achievement of the desired objectives. Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, received Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Military Strategy and Operations of the United Kingdom, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Strategic Security Bureau. At the start of the meeting, Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, emphasising the depth of the historical and strategic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, as well as the close and evolving cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly in the military and defence sectors, and the importance of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) as a key pillar for strengthening the strategic partnership between the two friendly nations. During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom that serve their mutual interests, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultation on various challenges. In a statement marking International Youth Day celebrated on 12 August, His Highness noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, chose to make the youth part of the decision-making process years ago, rather than mere recipients of its outcomes, and to be partners in shaping the future, through a national approach based on nurturing talent. His Highness added that this approach receives the support and follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which has strengthened the integration of national efforts to build an environment that gives young people the opportunity to participate, encourages them to take on responsibility, and enables them to contribute to various development paths.
