His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, chaired the Group’s Board of Directors meeting for the second quarter of 2026. During the meeting, His Highness briefed the Board on highlights of his recent visit to the United States, where he met with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector as well as the impact of the regional conflict on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Bapco Energies Group. The Board reviewed Bapco Energies’ financial and operational performance and approved the Group’s audited financial statements for the year ended 2025. The consolidated Bapco Energies Group 2026 adjusted budget was endorsed, supporting the continued delivery of its strategic objectives. Mr. Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer, presented an update on the Group’s performance, key growth indicators, and progress across major strategic initiatives, including the Bapco Modernization Project and Bapco Upstream projects. The Board reaffirmed Bapco Energies’ role in supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s long-term economic development and energy security, underscoring the Group’s commitment to creating lasting value for its stakeholders.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, congratulated Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the occasion of Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib achieving a historic milestone by qualifying to compete in the World Endurance Championship for the first time in the history of Egyptian equestrianism. His Highness affirmed his commitment to supporting Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib by developing a comprehensive programme to train him to compete for a place at the World Endurance Championships, while ensuring the best technical and administrative conditions to achieve this goal. This initiative is part of the sports cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and strengthens mutual cooperation in sports, particularly endurance riding, which develops sporting talent and the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries. His Highness noted that this success embodies the approach adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting Arab countries, transferring technical and administrative expertise, and enabling Arab riders to reach the highest international levels to advance Arab endurance riding. His Highness expressed his confidence in the ability of rider Mahmoud Samir to perform admirably at the World Championship, wishing him continued success and the Arab Republic of Egypt further achievements in various international sporting forums. Egypt’s qualification for the World Championships is a source of pride for the Arab world, in line with His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s vision to increase Arab participation in international endurance championships and provide more Arab riders with the opportunity to represent their countries globally, reflecting the development of Arab endurance riding and its growing international standing. The children of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team, achieved outstanding results at the Samorin International Endurance Race held in Slovakia. Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa won first place in the 100km international race for the junior and youth category, while His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa won first place in the 120km international race for the junior and youth category. His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s horse failed to pass the veterinary examination in the 120km international race for the open category after the third stage. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa also participated in the 160km international race but was unable to finish due to an injury. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised that participating in the Samorin International Race had been a positive experience and achieved many of the objectives set by the team as part of its preparatory programme. His Highness noted that the riders’ results reflected the volume of work carried out over the past period and represented an important step in their preparations for upcoming events, foremost among which is the World Junior and Senior Endurance Championships to be held next year, alongside continuing to build their experience in international competitions. His Highness praised the outstanding performances of the Royal Endurance Team’s riders and commended their high spirits and great dedication throughout the race. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, affirmed that Arab Youth Day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of building a generation that believes in its own capabilities, holds on to its ambitions, and recognises that the future of their nations is not shaped by circumstances, but by will, determination and hard work. His Highness explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements in supporting and empowering young people are based on the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who established a national approach that places people at the centre of development and makes them its ultimate goal. On the occasion of Arab Youth Day, observed annually on 5 July, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa added that Arab youth possess the knowledge, ability and ambition to lead change and achieve great things, emphasising that the real challenge lies not in the scale of the opportunities available, but in the scale of the ambition that young people harbour for themselves and for their countries. His Highness noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to provide a supportive environment that enables young people to develop their capabilities, unleash their potential and transform their ideas into projects, initiatives and achievements that contribute to the nation’s advancement and progress. His Highness observed the examination procedures and the readiness of the participating horses. His Highness will take part in the 160km Samorin International Endurance Race, while Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 100km International Race, His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 120km International Open Race, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 120km International Junior and Youth Race. His Highness led the Royal Endurance Team’s final training session for the race with the participation of his children. His Highness affirmed that taking part in the Samorin International Race is an important milestone in the preparation programme for the coming stages, noting that European competitions provide jockeys and horses with the opportunity to gain experience and compete at the highest levels, which enhances their technical and physical readiness for upcoming events, foremost among which is the World Endurance Championship, which requires comprehensive preparation. His Highness added that the Royal Endurance Team continues to implement its preparatory plans for young riders according to a carefully designed programme focused on achieving the highest levels of readiness and meeting the qualification requirements for participation in the World Championships for Young Rider and Juniors, scheduled to be held in Samorin in 2027. This will be a suitable opportunity to familiarise themselves with the terrain of the Samorin Village courses, which hosted the World Endurance Championship in 2016. His Highness wished all the competing riders’ success to deliver outstanding performances that reflect the prestigious standing of Bahraini endurance on the international stage. The participation of His Highness’s children in the Samorin International Endurance Race is of particular significance, as it marks their first international appearance in endurance racing abroad, following preparation and training to gain experience and compete globally. Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Head of Humanitarian Voluntary Initiatives at the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, visited a number of homes benefiting from the ‘Reassured Homes’ initiative, implemented by the Humanitarian Volunteer Initiatives team “Sheyam Al-Khair”, with the support of GFH Foundation, the charitable arm of GFH Bank, to see the impact of the initiative in bringing joy to the beneficiary families The initiative involved furnishing more than 20 homes for widows, orphans and families in need across the Kingdom’s governorates, with the participation of more than 50 volunteers divided into 8 working groups, embodying the values of social solidarity, humanitarian work and volunteering. On the occasion, Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that this initiative stems from a desire to spread generosity and community compassion and foster a culture of voluntary work to support families in need and improve their living conditions. Her Highness praised the efforts of the ‘Sheyam Al Khair’ team and the volunteers who helped implement the initiative, and the responsibility, dedication and teamwork they demonstrated, in addition to the support provided by GFH Foundation to ensure the initiative’s success. Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander directed the launch of the ‘Gadeha’ Youth Training Camp, which targets young people aged 10 to 17 of both genders and will be held from 8 August to 3 September 2026 at Exhibition World Bahrain. The camp is being organised as part of an ongoing commitment to invest in young and emerging talent, and to foster the values of national belonging, discipline and responsibility through a comprehensive training experience that combines physical and educational challenges with life skills in an environment inspired by military training, under the supervision of specialised and professional instructors. On the occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that Bahraini youth are the Kingdom’s true wealth, and that investing in developing their capabilities is fundamental pillar for continuing the march of national development and achievements under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Highness stated: “The Gadeha Youth Training Camp embodies a comprehensive national vision to prepare a conscious generation capable of facing challenges, by instilling the values of discipline, self-reliance, teamwork, leadership and accountability, which builds outstanding young people committed to their national identity and have a sincere sense of belonging to their country.” His Highness added: “We are keen to provide high-quality programmes that enable young men and women to acquire the experiences and life skills that enhance their readiness for the future, and familiarise them with the significant national role played by military and security agencies in protecting the Kingdom and safeguarding its achievements, which reinforces the values of loyalty and positive citizenship.” The camp offers an intensive training experience totalling 30 training hours, with participants undertaking a programme spanning six days per group daily from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, within a comprehensive training environment at Exhibition World Bahrain. During the camp, participants move between a number of stations and challenges designed to test their endurance, concentration and reaction speed, while also acquiring life skills that help build a more self-reliant and responsible character, as well as gaining practical insight into the nature of military work and the roles carried out by the military and security services.
